The Joint Service Gliding Scheme is delivered from the joint Servcie Gliding Centre in Halton.

 This is to meet the aims of AT through the delivery of structured courses that seek to develop the requisite skills and techniques necessary to complete the following.

  • Airmanship
  • Navigation
  • Air law
  • Field landings
  • Gliding instructor
Examples of Gliding courses on offer include.
  • Gliding Foundation (GF) - A 5-day course to provide the foundation skills required for a novice to become a competent glider pilot up to solo standard.
  • Gliding Course (Intermediate) (GC(I)) - A 5-day course to develop students to BGA Bronze C Standard
  • Gliding Course (Advanced) (GC(A)) - A 5-day course to assess students in advanced gliding to attain BGA Silver C qualification and assess them as potential Basic Instructors.
  • Gliding Instructor (GI) - A 2 module course (10 days and 3 days) to train and assess the instructional skills required to achieve the award of the BGA Assiatnt Rated Instructor qualification.
Following the successful completion of courses, students are awarded certificates from the British Gliding Association.
