Pre-arrival information

Coming to ATC Pirbright – one of the first steps of a soldier's Army career – can be a daunting prospect. Making sure that recruits are as prepared as possible beforehand makes a big difference and gets them started on the best possible footing.

Those due to arrive at ATC Pirbright, be it for the Regular Army or Army Reserve (formerly the Territorial Army (TA)) course, will receive a detailed set of instructions with dates and timings according to their particular intake. General joining instructions are downloadable using the link on the right.

Regular and Army Reserve recruits should use the notes and checklists to help them with the things they may need to locate, buy and pack, paying particular attention to documents they need to bring.

Regular Army recruits

Parents and guardians of Regular Army recruits are encouraged to drop off their sons or daughters on their first day at ATC Pirbright – this gives them the opportunity to tour the camp and see where the recruit will be living for the next 14 weeks.

Parents and guardians also get the opportunity to meet the training teams and have a quick but informative presentation on the training that the recruit will undergo during their stay. More information can be found in the 'Information and kit list for new recruits coming to ATC Pirbright' or watch the video on the 'Facilities' page.
