4th Infantry Brigade and HQ North East

Headquarters 4th Infantry Brigade and Headquarters North East is a new adaptable force brigade based in Yorkshire and the North East.  The formation comprises Regular and Reserve units who have the capability to carry out a wide range of missions.  The Brigade was established on 1 December 2014 and its headquarters is located in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire.

4th Infantry Brigade delivers operational effect and regional responsibilities across the North East of England and covers one of the largest regions in the UK.  It trains and administers over 10,000 soldiers across an area equivalent to the size of Belgium with a population of over 8 million.

Under its command are five Army Cadet Force (ACF) Counties and 16 Combined Cadet Force (CCF) Contingents comprising of some 8,500 plus young people and adults.  The region hosts two garrison towns (York and Catterick) and four important training facilities: the Infantry Training School at Catterick; the Army Foundation College at Harrogate; the Army Medical Training Centre at Strensall; and the Defence School of Transport at Leconfield.

The Brigade has training, emergency planning and home defence roles. It also liaises with police, fire and ambulance services in 33 local authorities.
