Community Engagement

The Military Civilian Integration team works to establish relationships with local authorities, charities, individuals and veterans' groups who support the service community in Wales. The main civilian priority for the Armed Forces in Wales is the Community Covenant. This was established in 2011 to provide additional support to local communities with a Forces presence.

Opening of the Welsh AssemblyThe MCI team works to establish relationships with local authorities, charities, individuals and veteran’s groups who support the service community in Wales. The main civilian priority for the Armed Forces in Wales is the Community Covenant. This was established in 2011 to provide additional support to local communities with a Forces presence.

Community Covenant

The Community Covenant allows those local authorities and 3rd sector organisations in Wales who have signed up, to access additional funds from a Central Covenant Team based in London and 160 Bde HQ in Brecon. All 22 local authorities in Wales have now signed up to the Covenant and in turn feed into 7 Regional Covenant Partnerships.

Community Covenant Fund

For communities, the Armed Forces covenant is a promise of mutual support between a civilian community and its local Armed Forces community. A Covenant Fund is available for community projects that offer small grants up to £20,000 and large grants up to £500,000. Both grant routes are closed at the moment and will reopen in spring 2016.
