Business, local authorities and members of the Service family are already talking... so join in.
The overarching principle of the Armed Forces Covenant is to ensure that the services community (serving personnel, their families and veterans) are not disadvantaged as a result of their military service.
However, at a regional level, the Armed Forces Community Covenant initiative offers us the chance to develop effective partnerships with local authorities, the charitable and business sectors, and many other groups who have the best interests of the services community at heart.
11th Signal and West Midlands Brigade has signed Armed Forces Community Covenants with all 14 Councils within the West Midlands region.
Each Community Covenant is overseen by a partnership board which meets regularly to ensure that the needs of the services community (including veterans) within the region are being addressed and that the relevant services are being signposted to those in need.
The community covenant
Community covenants complement, at a local level, the armed forces covenant, which outlines the moral obligation between the nation, the government and the armed forces. The aim of the community covenant is to encourage local communities to support the service community in their area and promote understanding and awareness among the public of issues affecting the armed forces community.
The corporate covenant
A corporate covenant is a written and publicised voluntary pledge from businesses and charitable organisations who wish to demonstrate their concrete support for the armed forces community.
