15 (NE) Brigade - Royal Dragoon Guards exercised their Freedom of the City of York and commemorated the outbreak of the First World War - an event supported by a flyover by a pair of RAF Typhoons
The Brigade has training, emergency planning and home defence roles. It also liaises with police, fire and ambulance services in 33 local authorities.
In recent years the Brigade has provided support to the region in dealing with floods, disease outbreak and provision of emergency fire-fighting.
The Brigade area plays host to a deployable brigade, five key training facilities and two huge training areas plus the largest garrison in western Europe.
The Brigade's order of battle comprises six Army Reserve units whilst administering eighteen others including two University Officer Training Corp.
