Tasks
The Division's tasks include
- Command of the Regular, Territorial Army and Cadet Forces in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North of England.
- The provision of individuals and force elements for operations and commitments worldwide.
- The provision of command and infrastructure support for Army units in Scotland and Northern England.
- The provision of support to the Reserve Forces and Cadets Associations in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North of England.
- Provision of the required State Ceremonial and Public Duties in Scotland.
The Division's Role
The Division has two core functions. Its primary role is the provision of military capability to Land Forces. That is, the provision of properly manned, trained, equipped and motivated forces for military operations anywhere in the world.
Operations and support to operations are the GOC's main effort and this role takes precedence over all else. The Division's second core function is the provision of regional and administrative support to all Army units based within the Divisional area, thus enabling them to undertake their own missions and tasks. It can be seen therefore, that the Division's second core activity directly contributes to its primary function.
