The Corps always produces an excellent rugby squad despite operational commitments. The Mens' Corps Team play some 20 matches each season against others Corps and civilian clubs. The Royal Signals have been the Inter-Corps Champions for the last 3 years. The Corps also provides a number of Army players including the current Captain and Coach.

Corps Rugby

Corps Rugby has developed in professional approach alongside the Army Rugby Union over the past 5 seasons. A corporate plan and strong Corps structure has ensured that the younger talent within the Corps are now actively encouraged to participate at the highest levels.   This season alone has seen players from 2 Signal Regiment, 3 (UK) Division HQ and Signal Regiment and 21 Signal Regiment (Air Support) represent the full Army Squad, Army Development, Army U21 and Army U20. In addition players have represented topflight civilian sides including Bath, Leeds Tykes and Neath Ospreys.

The Corps Representative Rugby team is now firmly based out of Cardiff High School Old Boys RUFC in Cardiff. This provides the club with excellent training facilities, a fantastic clubhouse atmosphere post match and of course the delights of Cardiff in the third half.

With a full structured season, the Corps Rugby Committee is endeavouring to ensure that Community Rugby within the Corps is encouraged. Representative level rugby players are actively encouraged to seek postings to 2 or 21 Signal Regiments. In addition 3 (UK) Div HQ and Signal Regiment and 11 Signal Regiment as well as a whole host of others are participating strongly in Army competitions.

11 Signal Regiment has become the junior rugby development Regiment. Young talent is spotted as soldiers enter phase 2 training and are actively encouraged to play during their training. Soldiers are then counselled on their choices of Regiments and then where possible are placed in a Unit where Rugby is played.

In addition to the XV man game, there is a strong following for Rugby 7s within the Corps. A 7s Squad was formed this year, mainly centred on 21 Signal Regiment (AS) but with the full support of individual players from around the Corps. In addition a Corps 7s competition is held annually at Cardiff High School Old Boys RUFC. This years competition was fiercely contested with 2 Signal Regiment being victorious over 11 Signal Regiment in the final of the main competition, and 21 Signal Regiment's veterans team being narrowly defeated by 15 Signal Regiment in the plate competition. This season also saw a women's competition being held. After some fabulous rugby, 21 Signal Regiment's ladies team won the competition.
