Headquarters Signal Squadron

Combined Cap Badges of the Sqn Headquarters Squadron has been an integral part of the Regimental structure since 'Options for Change' in 1990, and it has supported the Regiment with men and resources for every operation that the Regiment has undertaken.

 


The Squadron Role

 

Provide support to Regimental and Station activities in order to maintain the required level of G1/G4 support to 1st (United Kingdom) Armoured Division Headquarters and Signal Regiment and Herford Station.

  • This role requires professional, multi-skilled soldiers to operate in the following areas:
  • The 'Light Aid Detachment' consists of soldiers from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers who provide repair and recovery services for the Regiments vast and varied electro-mechanical fleet.
  • Administrative support to Regimental Headquarters and station is provided by soldiers from The Adjutant Generals' Corps - Staff and Personnel Support Branch.
  • Regimental Motor Transport Department contains highly versatile drivers from the Royal Corps of Signals and Royal Logistics Corps who provide the regiment and station with general transport support.
  • Catering support is supplied by Chefs from The Royal Logistic Corps who provide high quality menus both in barracks and on Operations.
  • The Quartermasters department are responsible for ensuring the Regiment is supplied with the right equipment, sufficient fuel, rations and ammunition etc, in the right place, at the right time.
  • A Medical and Dental service is provided by soldiers of the Royal Army Medical and Dental Corps for all soldiers and their families.
  • The Regimental Police force is provided from Royal Corps of Signals soldiers and they are responsible for the maintenance of discipline and security both in barracks and on operations.
