1st (UK) Armoured Division Headquarters Signal Regiment and 4th, 7th and 20th Armoured Brigade Signal Squadrons provide the command support functions for the Divisional and Brigade headquarters.

Communications are also provided for the Supporting Arms, including the Royal Artillery, Royal Engineers and Army Air Corps.


The Regiment's role is to provide communication, information systems and life support to Headquarters 1 (UK) Armd Div. The Regiment fulfils its role by being split into four Squadrons; Two Armoured Headquarters Squadrons, a Trunk Squadron and a Headquarters Squadron

The Division has existed in the British Army since 1809 when the Duke of Wellington formed it, in Portugal, from two British brigades and one Hanoverian brigade of the King's German Legion.
