LIAG - Land Information Assurance Group
Welcome to the homepage for the Land Information Assurance Group (LIAG).
The LIAG is based at the Basil Hill Site, Corsham, where it can respond rapidly to tasks around the world.
The LIAG is a Defence Capability being raised to meet the needs of Digitisation and our growing dependence on computers and networked information systems. The critical operational information stored, processed, transported and displayed by these systems must be properly protected against attack or system failure. The Army has now been enhanced with a TA pool of IT Professionals - the LIAG.
'We have the LIAG group out at present, looking at health and potential abuse of IT systems. They are doing a tremendous job. Real expertise is vested in these TA officers, and COMPUSEC is another area where we are perhaps highly vulnerable in this theatre'
Mission
The LIAG is to provide Information Assurance (IA) advice and support to Commanders: Across the whole spectrum of operations. Worldwide in operational and non-operational theatres. For all CIS, including associated management systems. With an integral training and development capability. By providing Vulnerability Assessment and Assistance Teams (VAAT) or Advance Intruder Testing (AIT), in conjunction with other agencies. As part of the LAND component of any future Defence IA organisation.
New Opportunities for Smart People
The LIAG is a TA unit where the commitment is only 19 days per year, although many members do more. As well as providing specialist IT services there are opportunities to take part in adventurous training and deploy throughout the world to places such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, Oman, Georgia, Cyprus, Falklands and the United States.
