1 Mechanised Brigade HQ and Signal Squadron (215)
215 Signal Squadron is based in Tidworth, which is within the heart of Salisbury Plain training are. As a result, this gives the squadron a great opportunity to deploy on exercise and train in one of Europe's best training areas without the need for long traveling distances.
The squadron supports 1 Mechanized Brigade, operating within 3rd (UK) Division. It has the opportunity to be assigned to both NATO and national tasks.
215 Signal Squadron has now acquired the new BOWMAN equipment which has replaced the older CLANSMAN Combat Net Radio. As a result of the equipment change, the squadron has been and is highly proactive in testing and tuition on the new equipment.
Now that the summer season is finally over and winter has crept in, the Squadron is in the planning and preparation stages for OP TELIC 10 by making sure all personnel have the required courses and qualifications required to carry out their specified role once out in theatre. This year again has proved to be a successful one with the squadron deploying on many various exercises and all personnel working hard to finish the year with all outstanding tasks completed so that they can all start fresh in the New Year.
Finally, on the 5th November Tidworth held the annual 3K and 10K Fun Run for Salisbury hospital. The event was organised by 215 Signal Squadron, which made a great effort in providing refreshment stalls and entertainment stalls for the younger children and not to mention the planning of the route for the 10K run. All in all the day was a great success with over seven hundred competitors taking part in the both events and over twenty thousand pounds raised for Salisbury hospital, which beats last years record of twelve thousand pounds.
