Located at Manor Top in Sheffield, the squadron provides administration and life support to the regiment in field locations and in barracks, The Squadron had various trades to offer potential volunteers but whatever your role, you will train first and formost as a soldier and then you can choose to focus on specific trades and skills that we offer.

In addition to gaining extra qualifications you will be paid the same as a regular soldier for every day that you work.

You will gain self confidence, fitness, camaraderie and pride in yourself. Additionally if you complete certain required training you will receive and additional tax free bounty every year.

38th Signal Regiment Light Aid Detachment contains soldiers of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME).

We are based at Manor Top Territorial Army Centre Sheffield. With certain roles available in Nottingham, Derby and Blackburn.

The Army of today operates a vast amount of highly complex and modern equipment, which requires highly trained individuals to keep it on the move.

The Army needs to be ready for action at a moment's notice. The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers are the team that makes it happen.

Support Squadron is always looking to recruiting new personnel into the Regiment who have the potential to develop into soldiers and officers within the Royal Signals.  Additionally we recruit soldiers into the Royal logistic Corps, (RLC) The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) and the Adjutant Generals Corps (SPS) (AGC (SPS)).

Support Squadron is co-located at Manor Top TAC, Sheffield with 64th Signal Squadron.  We pride ourselves on being a close knit squadron who work hard and enjoy the family unity we foster within the squadron.

The TA Centre is fortunate to have a multi gym on site with an excellent sized drill hall for training. The squadron meet for training on a Tuesday evening and at weekends.  The TA Centre has excellent social facilities for junior Ranks, Warrant Officers, Sergeants and Officers of the station.

The squadron has deployed soldiers to Iraq, Afghanistan, Cyprus, Canada and the Balkans.  Also Squadron personnel have taken part in exercises and adventurous training in Australia, Canada, Germany, Austria and across the UK.
