2nd Signal Regiment
2nd Signal Regiment is based in Imphal Barracks, York. The Regiment is one of the regular regiments within 11th Signal Brigade, and is equipped with the Cormorant trunk communications system.
Role
2 Signal Regiment is currently equipped with a state of the art wide area communications system known as CORMORANT. The system, based on modern ATM switching technology, allied with Ethernet technology in the local area and high capacity wide band data links, places the Regiment at the forefront of delivering information and communication services to the Joint Rapid Reaction Force (JRRF). This involves the maintenance of at least one squadron at very high readiness and prepared to deploy world-wide in support of JRRF operations. The technology that CORMORANT brings has 2 Signal Regiment equipped with one of the most advanced communications systems in-service with the British Army and a vanguard unit in the delivery of Networked Enabled Capability (NEC)
