Joining the Territorial Army could be the best decision you ever make. It's also a big one, so you're bound to have lots to ask.

This section aims to answer all those questions and help introduce you to one of the most exciting career paths out there, one that can offer you life experiences few other jobs ever could. If you think you might have what it takes to join the Territorial Army, then read on and find out more.

The TA offers a great deal too many different people but it isn't for everyone.

Application and Selection

Interested in joining the TA? Learn more about the options available and the steps you need to take to fulfil them.

Step 1: Drop us an email or give us a call letting us know that you are interested in joining.

This is also the perfect opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the unit or the recruitment process.

Step 2: Visit Us You'll get to chat to the recruiting team, watch a DVD about the TA and then start the recruiting procedure. This consists of the following:

  • Initial Interview - This interview will help us to assess your suitability for the TA and give you the chance to ask any questions you may have. You will also be asked about your fitness and to fill in a medical questionnaire.
  • TA Selection - You will be assessed on your fitness and have a medical before you can start training. The fitness test will be 1½ mile run in 15minutes.
  • Attestation - You will swear an oath of allegiance to the Queen, this is the final stage of the recruiting procedure - you are now a member of the Territorial Army

Step 3: Start your Training - Your training will consist of 6 weekends followed by a 2 week course. On the 2 week course you will be taught and tested on all the military skills to pass out as a trained soldier. After you have passed basic military training you will then progress onto trade training.
