RHQ Royal Signals - Data Protection Act Statement
RHQ Royal Signals holds data on serving and retired members of the Royal Corps of Signals. This data allows us to process welfare
claims, manage membership to the Royal Signals Association, manage contributions to the Royal Signals Benevolent fund, manage
payments for the Corps magazine 'the Wire' and make funeral arrangements for retired members.
The information was initially gathered under the 1998 Data Protection Act Schedule 3 Pare 4(c) and (d) which states:
The processing relates only to individuals who either are members of the body or association or have regular contact with it in
connection with its purposes, and does not involve disclosure of the personal data to a third party without the consent of the data
subject.
Those individuals who we are in regular contact with are being made aware that we hold data on them. However we also hold a
significant amount of records for individuals who left the Corps prior to July 2001. This information consists of Service No, Rank,
Surname, Initials, First Names and Date of Birth.
If you wish to verify the data that we hold on you, you will need to contact RHQ by sending an e-mail to: SOINC-RHQ-ChClk@mod.uk or
by ringing the RHQ Chief Clerk on 01258 482161.
You will be asked to provide some basic information to prove who you are. We will then be able to confirm if we hold data on you
and if so provide you with the information we hold. You can then request that we add, update or delete your information.
