299 Sig Sqn (SC) provide ICS and command support direct to Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) on overseas operations in order to support programmed and contingent national, coalition and NATO operations.
The SC Operator role involves soldiers working in support of the FCO in the UK and overseas in a wide variety of unique and challenging roles. Deployments are often at short notice and usually involve deploying alone or in small teams.

Selection and Training
Three briefing courses are run annually (Feb, Mar and May) and are designed to filter those candidates to the next selection phase, the Special Communications Assessment (SCA). These briefing courses also give the candidates an opportunity to meet current SC Operators and ask any questions, gives an insight of what is expected on the Special Communications Course (SCC), and the preparation required.
The Special Communications Course (SCC) is 34 weeks long and split into three modules; military and underpinning skills, special communications equipment and procedures and special to role environmental training.
Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a golden handshake plus additional retention pay per day.
