Why join the Army Reserve?

Being a Reservist asks more from you than most other spare time activities, however the rewards are much greater. You will be part of a team of people from all walks of life and develop new skills as you work and train together. The Army pays you for the time you put in, and offers you the opportunity to travel and take part in social events. In addition, each year you can qualify for a tax-free bounty, which can exceed £1674 after 5 years service. You will be expected to commit to a minimum of 27 days service per year; this consists of drill nights, training weekends and a 15 day annual camp.

There are all manner of exciting challenges available and an opportunity to learn teamwork and leadership skills in your spare time. As a Reservist you will have the chance to learn military skills as well as undertake overseas adventurous training expeditions such as climbing, trekking and parachuting.

Joining the Army Reserve means that you do all of your training and military duties in your spare time, making it possible to combine the benefits of Army life with your civilian life and career.

Reservists also deploy overseas on sixth month deployments, giving you the opportunity to consolidate all of your training and to serve your country.
