Want to join the Territorial Component of the Regiment?
All Territorial soldiers of the Regiment undertake basic military skills training in addition to training for a particular skill in disciplines such as driving, plant operating, vehicle maintenance, clerical duties, catering, radio communications and bomb disposal. Squadrons conduct varied training and there are opportunities to train overseas. Joining one of the TA Squadrons is easy. Either phone 0800 2346 101 for more information or pop in to the Territorial Army (TA) Centre on a Tuesday evening at 8pm.
How long will it take to get trained?
Depending on how much time you can commit, it will normally take between 6 to 12 months to train you as a soldier. You will attend 7 Recruit Training Weekends at the Regional Training Centre in Farnborough, Hants, with other recruits and instructors from the Regiment, learning basic soldiering skills, such as weapon handling, drill, first aid and military knowledge and on completion of those weekends you will attend a two week recruit course at one of the Army's Recruit Training Centres.
Once you have completed all of that you are a trained soldier and are ready to complete further, more specialised training.
