28 Engineer Regiment is based in Hameln in Germany and is usually a General Support Engineer Regiment however it is currently attached to 11 (Light) Brigade as a Close Support Regiment. It is one of the biggest units in the British Army and plays as hard as it works.

This year the Regiment has had sub units deployed in both Iraq and Afghanistan as well as exercising in Kenya but has still found time to practice its basic combat engineer & infantry skills, display its sporting prowess and find some time to take in some adventure training and cultural visits.

Anglo-German Links

Highly regarded locally, 28 Engineer Regiment maintains very strong Anglo-German links through the British-German Club, winning the British Ambassador's Anglo-German Award in 2007.  Hameln Stadt granted the Regiment the Freedom of the Stadt on 3 June 1977 and long established links with other towns such as Eberbach in southern Germany, ensure that Military Aid to the Civil Community (MACC) tasks remain a key feature in the annual programme.
