65 Works Group RE

65 Works Group Royal Engineers is the only Works Group within 170 (Infrastructure Support) Engineer Group that is totally staffed from Army Reserve personnel. It is a 300 strong nationally recruited Reserve unit from across the UK.

Personnel are professional engineers, technicians, project managers and quantity surveyors who work within the UK and international engineering sectors. They bring their civilian expertise to the unit and to 170 (Infrastructure Support) Engineer Group where they can expect to

65 Works Group RE is formed into a Headquarters and six Specialist Teams Royal Engineers (STRE). The unit has power, fuel, water and airfields infrastructure teams that have similar roles to their Regular counterparts with a focus on civilian infrastructure. The other two teams are rail and port infrastructure STREs that are unique across the Army in providing design, construction supervision and advice in both these key areas of transport capability.

65 Works Group provides niche specialist engineering skills that enhance the capability of the Regular Army element of 170 (Infrastructure Support) Engineer Group by bringing an increased depth and breadth of technical engineering knowledge from UK industry.
