Commando training

As a member of 131 Squadron you'll earn the right to wear the famous Commando Green Beret.

Once you've passed Phase 1 Training, we'll train you to pass the physical tests, including the 30 foot rope, assault course, fireman's carry, 9-mile speed march, high-wire 'Tarzan' course and 30-mile endurance march, all against the clock and whilst carrying kit and rifle.

You'll also be trained and tested in navigation, weapons, tactics and your ability to sustain yourself in any conditions.

Scroll through the Photo Gallery (below right) for more images and information.

The Bottom Field Tests

The tests must be passed before attempting the Commando Course itself. All recruits carry a rifle & equipment weighing 14kg.
