The Institution of Royal Engineers (InstRE)
The present objects of the Institution are to promote and advance the science of military engineering and to promote the military efficiency of the Corps of Royal Engineers. In pursuit of these objects the Institution provides a forum for debate through its sponsorship of joint professional meetings; the publication of articles in its Journal; the maintenance of a Museum and Library for the Corps' heritage and archive collection; and the administration of prize funds, a memorials fund and a scholarship fund. The Institution is a licensed member of the Engineering Council and can currently award Engineering Technician (EngTech), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and Chartered Engineer (CEng).
Institution Membership now includes all serving Royal Engineers. Those in the rank of Sapper are styled "Apprentice Technician" members.
Members are entitled use the Post Nominal Letters of: Member - MInstRE & Honorary Member - HonMInstRE
In 2007 InstRE was granted a licence by the Engineering Council to award Engineering Technician (EngTech). As of April 2010 InstRE can also award Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and Chartered Engineer (CEng). Members with the Engineering Technician Award can use the Post Nominal Letters of: EngTech MInstRE
Members with the Incorporated Engineer Award can use the Post Nominal Letters of: IEng MInstRE
Members with the Chartered Engineer Award can use the Post Nominal Letters of: CEng MInstRE
