2 Logistic Support Regiment

2 LSR

2 Logistic Support Regiment (2 LSR) undertake a variety of exercises each year to ensure that it is ready to support I (UK) Armoured Division whever it may be deployed. 

In recent years each squadron in the regiment has deployed complete on operations to places such as Bosnia and Kosovo as well as sending personnel to Northern Ireland, Kenya and the Falkland Islands.

It is a complex role which demands that soldiers in the Royal Logistic Corps are physically and mentally fit and highly trained in a diversity of skills.

Whilst soldiers of the Royal Logistic Corps are trained in a primary specialist role, they are soldiers first and specialists second, because success on the battlefield relies on our soldiers carrying out their trade, no matter how hostile the conditions become. 

In order to meet this challenge Royal Logistic Corps soldiers are provided with a wide range of employment specialisation and training.

The Regiment is grouped into 5 main areas.

Regimental Headquarters (RHQ)

Within the RHQ you will find the main command structure, here the Commanding Officer and his support staff will be found. Also within the RHQ you will find the Regimental Operations Department, Regimental Careers management Office, Regimental Administration Office plus the civilian support staff required for the smooth running of the Regiment.
 
27 Headquarters Squadron (27 HQ Sqn)

27 HQ Sqn is the support Squadron for the Regiment. Within it's orbat you will find the Quartermasters (QM) department, the Caterung departments and the Communications department.

The Squadron is solely responsible to provide catering, communications and within the QM's role all material support to the Regiment and the Squadrons to allow them to work effectively.

22 Close Support Squadron (22 CS Sqn)

22 CS Sqn is one of the Regiments Task Squadrons. They Support the Battle Groups on Operations with front line resupply of ammunition and other stores.

They work very close with the British  Army's fighting units. 22 CS Squadron operate a variety of vehicles and equipment including IMMLC and MMLC DROPS, CSTs and the new MAN Support Vehicles. Typically a driver in the Squadron will be trained to operate at least two of the pieces of equipment used.

45 Close Support Squadron (45 CS Sqn)

45 Close Support Squadron provides 2nd line support to the units of 7 Armoured Brigade. As with her sister Squadron they support the Battle Groups on Operations with front line resupply of ammunition and other stores vital for an efficient fighting force. As with 22 CS Sqn they operate a variety of vehicles including IMMLC, MMLC and the MAN SV.

76 General Support Squadron (76 GS Sqn)

76 General Support Squadron has an establishment of 150 all ranks and 260 for war fighting capability. It holds approximately 1600 item headings. The Squadron also acts as a Secondary Depot for 7 Armoured Brigade, Hohne and is on call to meet materiel demands for them 365 days a year.

When not deployed on Operations directly in support of 7 Armoured Brigade, the Squadron will often augment Bde exercises or provide Logistic Support to enable their training. This is normally through the establishment of a Forward Detachment to provide materiel, ammunition, rations and fuel support during firing camps.
