5 Training Regiment The Royal Logistic Corps (5 Trg Regt RLC) is a Regular Army unit based in Grantham, Lincolnshire. The Regiment's role is to carry out Individual Training (e.g. Phase 1,2 and 3 training) and to provide the necessary infrastructure and centralised support (QM, MT, Wksp and CRL), security and administration (pay and documentation) to the National TA and lodger units base at the Prince William of Gloucester Barracks as Grantham Station. The Commanding Officer acts as the Deputy Station Commander on behalf of the Commander RLC TA and co-ordinates all facilities and support activity for the Station as a whole.

To do this, the Regt employs the following personnel: 76 Military (Reg/TA/NRPS/FTRS) and 65 civilians. The Regt is split into two Squadrons, 37 Individual Training Sqn, and 39 Support Sqn.

The Regt runs 42 different types of courses and every year some 3500 courses places are available. The courses include: Recruits, PNCO/MPC/MPC/WO, Driver License Acquisition, DROPS/4 TONNE/LR courses, MHE, Fuel Tanker Operator, Hazardous Materials, Movements Operator, Radio Users, Mobile Laundry and Shower and Defence Instructional Techniques courses.

The Regiment supports Annual TA ADEs for the National RLC TA and also RLC Regional units if required. In addition to the courses, an average of 124 Training Weekends are supported each year. To provide this support, 5 Trg Regt RLC has the ability to accommodate and feed some 1230 personnel as well as having tented accommodation for an additional 1000+ personnel.

In the current Training Year, some 76,000 personnel were accommodated at Grantham. The Regiment boasts some outstanding training facilities including a fully equipped gymnasium, two football pitches, indoor and outdoor ranges, office and conference facilities, a command and control trainer and a cross-country driving area on the adjacent airfield.
