2 LSR History

2 Logistic Support Regiment was formed on 1 Apr 2005.  It was drawn from her predecessor, 2 Close Support Regiment and her sister regiment 1 General Support Regiment.

These two Regiments were formed on 5 Apr 1993 as part of the creation of the RLC.

The majority of 2 CS Regt was drawn from 1 Armed Div Transport Regiment, Royal Corps of Transport and 1 Ordnance Battalion, Royal Army Ordnance Corps, on their disbandment. The Unit was augmented by 11 Squadron, which originated from 4 Armed Div Tpt Regt, RCT.

In September 1994,  76 Bde Spt Sqn was added to the establishment in order to resolve the manpower shortages arising from the 'Options for Change' reorganisation of the Army.
 
In April 2000, 45 Divisional Troops Support Squadron was established as a result of the Strategic Defence Review and the CinC LAND's review of the RLC order of Battle.
 
With the formations of the LSR's or Logistic Support Regiments, a new Regiment was formed, In 2006 12 LSR was now born from the dust of 12 BOD, Duhlmen.

To this end 11 Squadron was lost by 2 LSR  and
43 Squadron form 1 LSR . The Order of Battle for the LSR was changed once again to it's current standing.
