234 Transport Squadron

234 Transport Squadrons role is to move combat supplies around the theatre of operations. It is equipped with the latest modern vehicles, from motor cycles, landrovers and fuel tankers, to all terrain fork lift trucks.

However, the main bulk carrying vehicle is the Leyland-DAF DROPS (Demountable Rack Off and Pick up System) MMLC (Medium Mobility Load Carrying) truck, which is capable of being able to load and carry 15 tons of stores or equipment across country, which can be doubled by the coupling of a trailer.

To enable the Squadron to operate the Hi -tech vehicles and equipment their soldiers are highly trained and skilled in a wide variety of trades, these include: Driver (C&E), Radio Operators, Chefs, Clerks and Combat Medical Technicians.

The Squadron has a strong REME Workshop Section attached, who have trained Vehicle Mechanics, Electricians, Metal Smiths and Recovery Mechanics to provide the skill and expertise in the repair of the equipment.

This Squadron also has a Stores Section attached to it which supports the Regimental workshop by demanding for technical stores.

They parade every Tuesday between 7.30pm and 9.30pm and the telephones are manned Monday to Friday during working hours.
