Keeping all the Army ships and rafts affloat and working properly

Skills taught: You'll learn how to deal with all kinds of mechanical and electrical problems as well as learning skills like welding. You'll travel, develop the ability to be calm under pressure, and get qualifications that will serve you both inside and outside the army.
As a soldier Marine Engineer, you'll keep all the Army ships and rafts afloat and working properly - whether they're moving tanks, trucks and bulky supplies or shuttling smaller items from ship to shore.
You'll learn how to deal with every kind of mechanical problem. You'll act as an engine fitter and maintain and fix everything from massive diesel engines to small petrol-driven outboard motors, as well as things like air compressors and water pumps. You'll also learn metalwork skills like welding.
You'll get to travel too, because when you're assigned to a vessel, no matter where in the world it is going - you'll go too. If you want adventure and excitement, and have an interest in technical engineering, then becoming a marine engineer will give you skills you can rely on for the rest of your life.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS YOU'LL NEED
GCSE grade C or better in Maths, English and a craft, love of boats, practical mind, calm under pressure, team player.
