102 Battalion REME

We are 102 Battalion, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers - 'The Northern Craftsmen'. We are the Army Reserve's professional engineers in the North of England, South Yorkshire and Humberside.

Role of the Battalion

Our role is to provide Equipment Support (ES) to the regular and reserve army, either independently or working alongside the regular army component of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. Our officers and soldiers train and deploy with the regular army on operations and exercises both at home and overseas. In our recent history 102 Battalion REME soldiers have deployed to Canada, Germany, Kenya, Falkland Islands in a variety of technical roles.

102 Battalion also train regularly overseas as technical tradesmen and automotive engineers, supporting the Army’s equipment capability and keeping the Army moving. We welcome new applicants from all walks of life; vocational engineers, non-vocational applicants and former regular army personnel. Training for our Craftsmen is exceptional and for our motivated young men and women trade progression and personal development opportunities abound.
