Focus on... Cpl Gabriel Moreno

My name's Gabriel Moreno, I'm a 38-year-old Corporal with the Royal Logistic Photographic Trade. I'm from Scarborough and at the moment I am working at Headquarters Land Forces in Salisbury.
My job there is as a photographer and I also do video work as well. I got into the job because I had an interest in photography before applying for the Army and originally intended to stay for about six years. I've been in a lot longer now and enjoy the job because no matter where we go, whether it's a short visit to an exercise or adventure training or going on an operational tour, we get to see everything there.
During 2008 I spent most of my time supporting, in one way or another, operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The earlier part of the year I spent C Company, 1 YORKS in the Falklands doing an exercise out there, live firing. They also patrolled along the beaches where the penguins are - normally off-limits, but clearance is granted from time to time.
Slightly later in the year I went and helped with 7 Brigade's MRX in Germany prior to their deployment to Iraq.
The later part of the year I spent replacing the London District photographer who'd deployed to Afghanistan.
During my time there I covered multiple jobs, the main 2 being the Queen's Birthday Parade and the celebrations over Remembrance, including the Field of Remembrance and the Cenotaph Parade itself.
The two pictures I have from the Field of Remembrance include the poppies just by the church wall and the veteran standing in front of the poppies. It certainly brings home to you in a more personal way rather than the slightly more impersonal parade at the Cenotaph.
I think my favourite picture of the year is probably the young boy in battledress with an SAS beret taken at the Cenotaph Parade. He was on his father's shoulders - a young boy called Archie Amos, aged six - and I think he made it to just about the front page of every newspaper.
