09 July 2012

Video from the ceremony

A memorial stone to mark those of the Parachute Regiment who fought and died during the troubles in Northern Ireland has been unveiled at Aldershot Military Cemetery.

The stone, which has been paid for by the members of the regiment's own association, has been inscribed with the names of the officers and soldiers who were killed during what was known as Op BANNER between 1969 and 2007.

On Sunday 7th July 2012 around 200 Parachute Regiment veterans and their families braved the rain to gather for a service of dedication and remembrance.
