The 1st Battalion Welsh Guards celebrated St David's Day in time-honoured style with the presentation of leeks during a parade held at their base, Lille Barracks, in Aldershot.

450 Guardsmen and Officers, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Charlie Antelme and accompanied by the Band of the Welsh Guards, were on parade to receive the traditional symbolic offering of a leek marking the most significant date in the Welsh calendar.

The leeks were presented by guest of honour, former Chief of Defence Staff, General the Lord Guthrie, of Craigiebank, who served as a Welsh Guards officer in his early career.
