6 SCOTS launch 2010 TA Summer Challenge 18 February 2010

6 SCOTS - the Territorial Army (TA) Infantry for the south of Scotland - have just launched their Summer Challenge for 2010.

The event - which is always over-subscribed - runs for seven weeks over summer and aims to train 250 new TA recruits for 6 SCOTS.

This year the Challenge will run from Saturday 19 June to Saturday 7 August. It's open to men and women aged between 17 and 43 - so if you're in south Scotland and have been thinking of joining the TA, this could be the perfect opportunity to do something about it.

At the end of the seven weeks all recruits who pass emerge as fully-trained TA soldiers - and they get £1,600 pay, too.

The Summer Challenge is indeed a challenge - those who sign up for it become soldiers under training and are pushed further and harder than they ever have been in civilian life. Among a variety of activities they learn to shoot, tackle adventurous training, gain first aid skills, and get fitter than they ever thought possible.
