The Army Benevolent Fund - the Army's official charity - is now known as ABF The Soldiers' Charity.

The new name, accompanied by a change of logo, launched on 1 February 2010. Building on a long history, the charity strives to ensure that it is able to support soldiers whenever they need assistance, now and in the future.

Over the past few years, ABF has seen a 30% rise in requests for help and has now set a new challenge of doubling income over the next 5 years.

Chief Executive Major General Sir Evelyn Webb-Carter said: "We've seen the amazing stories of soldiers who have survived horrific injuries, but we have no idea what the long term effects of these injuries will be. The Army has a very well established network of support and care but when a soldier leaves, he and his family lose much of that network. With their different experiences and needs, soldiers need to know who to turn to. That is why we are now calling ourselves The Soldiers' Charity."

The new ABF brand has been developed to enable the charity to be more recognisable, to let soldiers know it is there to help, and to let the public know that by supporting ABF, they support soldiers past and present.
