A team of soldiers walked 120 miles to remember fallen colleagues this week.
They left the Headquarters of the Army Medical Services in Camberley on Sunday 8 November and walked to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, arriving on Armistice Day, Thursday 11 November, in time for a Service of Remembrance. Their route took them through many towns and villages on route including Reading, Oxford, Banbury, Coventry and Tamworth.
Three walkers, WO1 Eliot 'Arfur' Daley and WO2s Darren 'George' Roper and Spencer 'Spence' Taylor, all Combat Medical Technicians with the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) raised money for the Army Benevolent Fund and the National Memorial Arboretum during the walk.
They were supported in their efforts by Pte Sarah 'Smithy' Smith, a dog trainer with the Royal Army Veterinary Corps and LCpl Prince 'Donnie' Darko, also a Combat Medical Technician.
During the Service of Remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum the party laid a wreath for each of the 3 RAMC soldiers, LCpl Den Brady, Cpl Chris O'Neill and Pte Eleanor Dlugosz, all of whom were killed during the recent conflict in Iraq. WO1 Daley and Pte Smith also read the exhortation at the service, which was also attended by HRH Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex.
