Army Big Band

Army Big Band in concert

The Army Big Band was formed in 2005 to demonstrate that military music is more than just a marching band.

The musicians are drawn from across the Corps of Army Music.

The players are all experts in the field of Big Band music and thoroughly enjoy rehearsing and performing together.

The intention of the band is to spread the word that the military music is more than just marching and to give the players the chance to perform at the highest level.

Most British military bands have some sort of Big Band capability. Performing or at least rehearsing Swing, Jazz and Big Band music. This band brings together the best Jazz and Big Band players available to the Corps to demonstrate the ultimate capability.

Big Bands have always been popular from the hey days through to the present day.  Robbie Williams recent Swing Album and performers like Harry Connick Jr and Jamie Callum show the popularity for this type of music.

The Army Big Band has performed at the Chichester Jazz Festival and on TV and has performed with Peter Grant, Westlife ,Jools Holland, Ruby Turner, Ray Quinn and is a regular at the Corps of Army Music's RHYTHM FORCE Concert.
