Director of Music
Major Tim Cooper joined the Gloucestershire Regiment in 1977 as an oboist. After training he served with the Glosters in Germany, Cyprus and UK. In 1983 he became an instructor at The Prince of Wales's Division School of Music.
He was then selected for the Bandmasters' course and on graduating from The Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall he was appointed Bandmaster of the Gordon Highlanders in Berlin.
In 1994 he joined The Band of The Life Guards as Bandmaster and completed the Household Cavalry equitation course.
Tim Cooper was commissioned in 2000 and returned to the Prince of Wales's Division as Director of Music of the Lucknow Band. He was appointed Director of Music of the Blues and Royals, RHG/D in 2006 and was promoted to Major in 2008.
Bandmaster
Warrant Officer Class One Richard Cregan joined the Army in 1991 as a junior musician and attended one year's training at the Army Junior School of Music Pirbright. In 1993 he attended the pupils' course at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall.
In January 1994 he was posted to the Band of the Grenadier Guards as a Trumpet/Cello player. During his nine years with the Grenadier Guards he took part in many high profile state occasions including The Queens Birthday Parade, The Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace and the state funeral of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. He traveled extensively with the Band of the Grenadier Guards, including concert tours of the USA, Canada and Australia.
In 2002 he was selected for the 3 year Bandmasters' course at Kneller Hall. On completion he gained an honours degree in music and received Prizes in composition and elocution.
In 2005 he was posted to the Band of the Royal Logistic Corps (RLC Band) as Bandmaster. During an enjoyable three years with the RLC Band he traveled to Switzerland, Germany and Cyprus. He received a Commandants commendation in 2008 for exceptional commitment.
In Septmber 2008, he attended the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment Equitation Course. In February 2009, On completion of the Equitation course he was posted to the Band of the Blues and Royals.
Richard is a keen squash player and was Captain of a local club side in the Surrey county leagues 2007-8. He has been awarded Corps of Army Music Sports Colours for representing the Corps at squash.
