The Light Cavalry Band

The Light Cavalry Band is one of two Royal Armoured Corps bands and is based in Bovington, Dorset. The Light Cavalry Band was formed on the 12 of June 2006 following the amalgamation of the Royal Lancers Band and the Band of the Hussars and Light Dragoons Band.

The Band's principal task is to support the following Regiments but it is available for booking by any part of the Armed Forces or civilian sector:

  • The Queen's Royal Hussars
  • The 9/12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales's)
  • The King's Royal Hussars
  • The Light Dragoons
  • The Queen's Royal Lancers

Being located in the south the band is ideally situated to support events in that region but is available to support events across the UK, Europe and indeed the rest of the world.

They are one of only two cavalry bands remaining following a defence review in 2006, but the histories of previous bands and regiments are maintained through the two bands, through uniform, music and traditions.

If you would like to book the Band for a military or civilian event or discuss the options of a career in the Corps of Army Music please contact us.
