Army Medical Services

Wherever you find the British Army, you will find the Army Medical Services (AMS) who can deploy at short notice anywhere in the world to provide medical support. Whether that support is during war, counter insurgency, peacemaking or during peacekeeping operations, the AMS will be there to maintain soldiers' health and provide medical care to the sick and injured.

Army Medical Corps

The RAMC is responsible for maintaining the health of servicemen and women. The Corps is represented wherever British Soldiers are deployed, providing medical support.

The Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC) provides the service lead in the development of good husbandry, training practice, preventative medicine and care for service animals.

The Royal Army Dental Corps (RADC) is responsible for the maintenance of the British Army's dental health. RADC personnel serve in many locations throughout the world.

Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC) nurses have worked at the sharp end of military life throughout the last century of military nursing.

Medical Regiments and Squadrons

Army Medical ServicesThese regiments provide the medical and evacuation capability. Personnel can find themselves treating wounded personnel, or involved in their evacuation to a larger medical facility.

1 Armoured Medical Regiment

1 Armoured Medical Regiment was formed on 1 April 2014 as a result of the Army 2020.

2 Medical Regiment

2 Medical Regiment is part of the 1st (UK) Division’s Adaptable Force Medical Group; we focus on patient centred excellence in the pre-hos

3 Medical Regiment

3 Medical Regiment is the task medical regiment of 4 Mechanized Brigade. Equipped with armoured ambulances it provides Role 1 medical support.

4 Armoured Medical Regiment

4 Medical Regiment is 1 Regular and 2 Reserve Field Ambulance units with HQ, 5 Task Squadrons (4 Area Medical Squadrons and an Evacuation Squadron)

5 Armoured Medical Regiment

5 Armoured Medical Regiment was formed on 1 December 1999, however the roots of the Regiment span back to World War 1 (WW1) and 5 Field Ambulance.

16 Medical Regiment

16 Medical Regiment was formed in 1999 from the amalgamation of 19 Airmobile Field Ambulance and 23 Parachute Field Ambulance.

225 Medical Regiment

225 Medical Regiment is Scotland's oldest surviving medical unit with a proud history that goes back to 1739.

253 (North Irish) Medical Regiment

253 Medical Regiment is an Army Reserve medical unit located in Northern Ireland specialising in providing healthcare for soldiers on operations.

254 Medical Regiment

254 Medical Regiment specialises in providing second-line medical support, responding quickly to incidents and treating casualties.

335 Medical Evacuation Regiment

335 Medical Evacuation Regiment provides the medical evacuation capability. The specialist Reserve unit is paired with three Regular medical regiments
