3 Medical Regiment one of two hybrid medical regiments within of 102 Logistics Brigade that re-formed in its current structure on 1 April 2014. It consists of a Regimental Headquarters, 18 Support Squadron and 12 Medical Squadron, as well as two Reservist units, 64 Medical Squadron in Chorley and 251 Medical Squadron in Sunderland. Its role is to provide Role 1 medical support to the Adaptable Force deploying on Operations and Exercises both in the UK and abroad.
Recently moved from Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire, 3 Medical Regiment is centered on Fulwood Barracks, Preston, Lancashire and has approximately 400 personnel. In the past, the Regiment has provided key medical support to operations and exercises across the globe, including Iraq, Afghanistan, the Balkans and Kenya. Manpower was also sent to assist with the Ebola crisis in West Africa of 2014.
3 Medical Regiment’s primary purpose is to provide Role 1 medical support, acting as a first port of call for injured personnel in the field. From here, they can receive care from basic first aid to life saving medical treatment. As well as fielding both regular and reserve soldiers and officers, they also employ professionally qualified doctors and dentists, assisting them in delivering the very best of care to those that need it.
