Engineering

Royal Engineers from 51 Squadron begin to lay the decking on a Ferry Bridge

As an engineer you give the Army the means to move, fight and survive - people's lives depend on your expertise. You can be involved in anything from providing the latest maps and making sure the local drinking water is purified, to ensuring military tanks are in full working order.

Engineering in the Army features a wide range of trades which are in demand all over the world. For example, as a Combat Engineer in the Royal Engineers you can be building bridges, navigating rivers or crossing minefields, while in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers you can be repairing and modifying equipment from rocket launchers to armoured carriers.

Army Engineers work in five different Corps:

  • Royal Engineers
  • Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers

  • Royal Corps of Signals

  • Royal Logistic Corps

  • Army Air Corps
