Professionally Qualified Officer

If you have certain qualifications, you could be on the fast track to becoming an officer. The PQO Course is open to doctors, dentists, nurses, lawyers, pharmacists, physiotherapists, veterinary surgeons and chaplains with the relevant degrees and experience. PQOs can expect to be commissioned in a higher rank, and at a correspondingly higher pay grade.

Army Medical Services

If you are a: doctor, nurse, veterinary surgeon, dentist, pharmacist, environmental health officer or operating department practitioner and you have the right experience and qualifications, you can join the Army Medical Services (AMS).

Send your CV to the AMS via an Army Careers Centre (ACC). The AMS will look at your qualifications and experience and, if successful, they will invite you to attend an 'acquaint visit'.

Royal Army Chaplain Department

If you are ordained with at least 3 years church responsibility, are from one of the MOD recognised denominations and under the age of 49, you could join the Royal Army Chaplain's Department.

Send your CV to the RAChD via an ACC. The RAChD will look at your qualifications and experience and a Regional Chaplain will talk you through your options. If successful, they will invite you to attend an 'acquaint visit'.
