INSIGHT COURSES

Signing up is a big decision, which is why the Army has created Insight Courses designed to offer a no commitment introduction to Army life to see if it’s right for you. You’ll get hands-on experience of the jobs you’re interested in and take part in activities and challenges designed to test your initiative, leadership, communication and team building skills.

ABOUT THE COURSE

Insight Courses allow young men and women who are considering a career in the Army to try out some Army tasks, eat and sleep as soldiers, and put themselves through some Army physical training – all under the close and watchful eye of trained teams of officers and soldiers. They last for five days and are residential, but some regions also offer shorter, non-residential taster courses lasting between one and four days.

WHO CAN TAKE PART?

If you're aged between 14 and 32 you can get a taste of Army life on an Insight Course. Most regions run different courses for different age groups, and some run seperate courses for boys and girls. They can be physically demanding, so if you are asthmatic or if you have an injury, then these courses are not for you. You must be prepared to do as you’re told, and keep in mind that you will get tired and you will get wet!

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?

If you want to go on an Insight Course and see first hand what Army life is like, get in touch with an Army Careers Adviser at your local Army Careers Information Office. They will be able to help you decide what kind of course is best for you and give you a list of when there are courses taking place near you. They'll also give you more details of what's involved and anything you need to take with you.
