LIFELONG LEARNING

The Army knows qualifications are important, which is why it gives officers and soldiers the chance to keep learning through their whole career. It doesn't matter how much education you've had before joining – our courses help everyone. You can study NVQs or GCSEs right up to postgraduate qualifications, all subsidised by the Army.

THE EDUCATION PROGRAMME

Through the Army's education system, you will have the chance to study for professional and nationally recognised qualifications. Learning and Development Officers can help you fill gaps in your education or learn new skills; and you're not limited to subjects that relate to your job. You will get a Personal Development Record that enables you to document the skills, experiences and qualifications you gain in the Army.

APPRENTICESHIPS

Apprenticeships give you the chance to pick up qualifications while you learn a trade and earn a living. The Army has the largest Apprenticeship programme in the country. About 5500 soldiers complete one through the Army each year as part of their training. You'll get recognised vocational qualifications, trade experience and improved basic, key or functional skills which will be a bonus when it comes to leaving the Army.
