About us
The Mercian Regiment was formed on 1 September 2007 at Tamworth Castle in the presence of The Colonel in Chief, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, Earl of Chester, KG KT GCB OM.
This formation saw 3 regular regiments and 1 territorial, each with more than 300 years' loyal and professional service to the Crown, merge into the infantry's newest regiment.

We continue to draw our fighting strength from the history and traditions of our antecedent regiments and the strong family ties we maintain with our counties and communities.
We are a proud, close-knit local regiment with three centuries of operational success behind us. We are the infantry of the modern Heart of England - confident, diverse and forward looking.
