ROLES

In general terms Regimental Headquarters is either directy responsible or has a role to play in running the wider Regiment.  This does not include the Battalion who are part of the field Army and who have their own seperate chain of command.  However, there is unsurprisingly that much that is common to both Regimental Headquarters and the Battalion and there is close contact between the two.

  • Aside from safeguarding the ethos and traditions of the Welsh Guards, Regimental Headquarters is principly responsible for:
  • Maintaining the Regiments close links to the Principality.  Examples are liaison and contacts with Mayors and Councils as well as Battalion and Band tours in Wales.
  • Provide welfare provision to members of the Regiment who are in need and in close liaison with Service charities.
  • Ensure a strong Regimental Association in which past members of the Regiment can meet up and relive times go by as well as catching up on current news.
  • Run the Regiment's Charitable Trusts and Accounts.
  • Recruit Potential Officers to the Regiment.
  • Support the Household Division's ceremonial roles and duties such as the Queen's Birthday Parade.
  • Oversee the Welsh Guards Band.
  • Run Regimental Events such as St David's Day and Regimental Sunday.
  • Run, maintain and sell Regimentalia.
  • Run and maintain Regimental archives on retired Welsh Guardsmen.
  • Input to Regimental website.
  • Safegaurd and run Regimental Property.
