ROLES

In general terms Regimental Headquarters is either directy responsible or has a role to play in running the wider Regiment.  This does not include the Battalion who are part of the field Army and who have their own seperate chain of command.  However, there is unsurprisingly that much that is common to both Regimental Headquarters and the Battalion and there is close contact between the two.

Aside from safeguarding the ethos and traditions of the Welsh Guards, Regimental Headquarters is principally responsible for:

  • Maintaining the Regiment's close links to the principality. Examples are liaison with mayors and councils as well as Battalion and Band tours in Wales
  • Providing welfare provision to members of the Regiment who are in need and in close liaison with Service charities
  • Ensuring a strong Regimental Association in which past members of the Regiment can meet up and relive times gone by as well as catch up on current news
  • Running the Regiment's Charitable Trusts and accounts
  • Recruiting potential officers to the Regiment
  • Supporting the Household Division's ceremonial roles and duties such as the Queen's Birthday Parade
  • Overseeing the Welsh Guards' Band
  • Running Regimental events such as St David's Day and Regimental Sunday.
  • Running, maintaining and selling Regimental memorabilia
  • Running and maintaining Regimental archives on retired Welsh Guardsmen.
  • Providing input to Regimental website
  • Safegaurding and running Regimental property
