D 'Fire Support' Company provides much of the firepower for the Commanding Officer and is made up of

  • The Reconnaissance Platoon

  • Mortar Platoon

  • Anti-Tank Platoon

  • Machine Gun Platoon, and

  • Snipers

The 'Fire Support' Company therefore has a large array of weaponry at its disposal.

Who is in D Company

The Company is made up of

  • more experienced soldiers

  • NCOs, and

  • Officers who have generally already spent time in a Rifle Company

Who can the sub units work with

Its sub-units can work independently or attach themselves to other units to

  • project firepower, and

  • find, fix and strike enemy forces

The Reconnaissance and Sniper Platoons operate forward of the Battalion's main body.

Anyone who wishes to join D Company must first pass a selection and training cadre specific to the Platoon they wish to join.
