Whilst you can join the Rifles from anywhere in UK we maintain strong family, historical and welfare links as well as friendships with the following recruiting areas where Riflemen are always welcomed with pride and are supported by the regimental family of Associations and Branches and relatives : Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Bristol, Bath, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Birmingham and West Midlands, Merseyside, Nottinghamshire(Mansfield), Yorkshire (including Leeds, Doncaster, Sheffield, Wakefield and Barnsley) Durham and The North East, Greater London and the Northwest Home Counties including Oxford, Reading and Milton Keynes.

UNIQUE VARIETY OF OPERATIONAL ROLES
We have the widest range of roles of any infantry regiment and, uniquely, we have a battalion in the Commando Role with 3 Commando Brigade. Other battalions offer Armoured infantry in Warrior AFVs, Light Role for jungle and mountain operations and Mechanised in Bulldog AFVs.
WIDEST RANGE OF SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Because of our wide range of roles we offer the chance to acquire the widest range of specialist skills in the British Army these include: Rifleman, Sniper, Medic, Mortar Man, Anti Tank Guided Weapons Specialist, Driver including HGV & Tracked, Radio Operator, IT specialist, Combat Engineer, Commando Course Qualification, Leader plus NVQs/SVQs and a range of people skills and experience transferrable to a successful career later in civilian life.

SALARY AND BENEFITS - You can expect:
All new entrants start on £12,162 per year (£33.32/day). The lowest paid trained soldier earns £14,322 per year - so your salary increases over time and depending on your rank.
