Join The Scots Guards
When you join the Scots Guards, you will not just have a career, but a life. The Scots Guards are at the cutting edge of the Army and Guardsmen are trained to use modern weapons and technology to the highest of standards.
Who are the Scots Guards?
Although the Scots Guards are famous for their ceremonial role, this is just one of the Regiment's tasks. First and foremost, we are Combat Infantry soldiers, trained and ready to deploy on operations at any time, anywhere in the world.
Where are we stationed?
The First Battalion is stationed in Catterick, North Yorkshire, as an Armoured Infantry Battalion, equipped with Warrior Armoured Fighting Vehicle.
F Company is stationed in London, conducting state ceremonial duties and guarding Her Majesty the Queen and her residences. They train at home and abroad to ensure all ranks are operation-ready.
Initial training
This takes place at one of three training establishments:
- Catterick for over 17s
- Harrogate or Bassingbourn for under 17s.
You'll be taught the skills you need to be a Scots Guardsman, including weapon training and firing, fieldcraft, map reading, first aid, sport, education and much more.
