Exercise GRAND PRIX

Briefing the troops before launching into an asault in Kenya Ex GRAND PRIX is a regular exercise in Kenya run by the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK). It's aim is to train Battle Groups in an environment similar to Afghanistan and Iraq.

To prepare for High Intensity Operations in Afghanistan on Op HERRICK 8, 1 R IRISH Battlegroup conducted a Battlegroup live-firing exercise in Kenya.

Kenya provides the perfect opportunity for realistic training, as we deployed with elements of the Royal Artillery and Royal Engineers who will be joining us in Afghanistan.

This gave us even more realistic training for the deployment to Afghanistan for Op HERRICK 8.
